Since 1983, Focal Point Photography has been more than just a camera store in Dallas, Oregon - we've been a cornerstone of the photography community. Our mission is simple: to educate, inspire, and equip photographers throughout Oregon with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.
Our Story
Founded by Mike Lowery at the age of 22, Focal Point Photography has survived and thrived while many other camera stores have disappeared. The secret to our longevity? An unwavering commitment to putting customers first. In 2019 after working at the shop for 9 years, Nate Woods bought Focal Point, continuing Mike's legacy while bringing fresh energy and modern innovations to serve a growing customer base.

The Team
Nate Woods
Owner
Owner of Focal Point Photography since 2019. Nate worked at Focal Point for 9 years before buying it and spent most of that time also shooting weddings. Nate loves leading the Focal Point team and helping customers find their perfect photography set-up.
Ben Mah
Customer Support/Used Gear Specialist
The OG Ben is our resident expert on all things studio lighting, Nikon, and film. If he's not working at Focal Point, he's out shooting studio portraits, concerts, or roller derby.
Michelle Woods
Owner/Admin
Co-owner of Focal Point Photography. You might not see her on the shop floor, but Michelle keeps things running from the office, and helps coordinate our events and education.
Wendee Schmitke
Customer Support
The friendliest face around, Wendee is a help to all our customers, and helps keep the shop looking good. When she's not at the shop, she's either crafting, building Legos, or taking pictures on the beach.
Andrew Schafer
Customer Support/ Lab Specialist
Andrew has been with us since he was an intern in High School. He always helps our customers find equipment that suits them, and keeps or lab running smoothly. Come talk film, audio, or video with him and he'll get you on the right path.
Ben Ammon
Customer Support
The newest addition to the Focal Point team! Ben is an event and sports photographer as well as a dedicated Sony fan. He's the guy to talk to if you want to get into sports photography or talk BIG lenses.
